Mower drive belt
How can I tell if my drive belt is worn out and needs to be replaced? My mower's performance has become noticeably worse, and I sometimes smell a rubbery odor, along with a slight slipping sound when under load.
The belt doesn't look that bad. Should I replace it immediately, or should I check other drive components first?

While a belt may appear to be in good condition, over time it hardens, stretches and loses its grip, causing it to slip under load. If the pulleys and shafts rotate easily and do not allow slack, the only likely cause is wear and tear on this part. If your deck is 48 inches long, replace it with gx21833. It's made of durable aramid fiber and resists stretching, heat and wear much better than a rubber drive part.
