The weather outside has been terrible but Stadium Solutions still delight us, however warm or cold, they continue to work for us… Just before Christmas we shared the time-lapse video and photos of the impressive black and white frontage to our main stand. We hope you enjoyed seeing it come to life.
Some of this might get a little technical for some, but here goes.
The composite panels were installed around the 4 sides of our main stand, but this came up against delays and certainly was not easy during the wind, rain and snow. The 9m by 1m composite black and white panels were problematic in the wind and the machinery wouldn’t start in the frost and snow, which we don’t blame them
Once these were installed some panels had to be cut down to go around some of the apertures of the windows and doors.
This side of Christmas we have seen the final two staircases installed to the main stand up to the 2m wide walkway in front of the seats in the main stand. Separating the walkway and seats, Stadium Solutions have been busy installing the modesty panel that can be seen in the photos, behind this panel we are soon to see 573 black and white seats, within this allocation there will be 28 black padded director’s seats and 6 white seats and tables dedicated for individuals from the media.
Stadium Solutions are busy fitting the smaller fiddly finishing touches, all the joins and edges to the building are fitted with flashings, defining those edges – time consuming. For example, the window apertures have had extra insulation added to the steel purlins, then plywood added, followed by the flashings ready for the windows and doors to be installed towards the end of next month.
Kevin Satchell said ‘It is amazing how much of a difference little section’s being added to the structure makes, and certainly the flashings as they define the structure. It is rewarding to see the main stand structure in its finishing stages, getting closer to the internal fit out, when there has been so many ups and downs throughout the project, which have hiked the cost of the project too. It is also pleasing to see and hear the reactions of people when they see updated photos and drone footage online but also taking visitors to site.
Everyone is thrilled by the extent of the site, and many say the photos don’t do it justice. We have recently had someone visit who burst into tears and others left speechless. It is lovely to hear and see these reactions especially when myself and my family continue to go through the financial pressures of the stadium build and still more costs to fulfil to the end, but we know what a fabulous facility it will be when its finished. These projects take time and must be done properly and carefully.’
Over the next few weeks, Stadium Solutions will also be installing the dugouts and perimeter gates and finishing the boundary fencing and turnstiles which currently only have a shell standing. Also, the steel of the main stand will be sprayed with intumescent fire paint which will be followed by the floor build up ready for the internal fit out, whilst Ipsum continue to work on the electricity connection throughout the site. There is still a lot of work to be done and we aim to get the stadium open for the new season.
Now is a really important phase for us to get this project over the line. We are currently looking for businesses to sponsor various areas of the new stadium, whether it be naming of the Terrace Stands, The 3G Arena or branding the rooms within the stadium itself. This is the opportunity that we have been waiting for to start generating revenue to make the club more sustainable and more successful. Ultimately allowing us to help fund all levels of the club.
There are various opportunities for you to be part of this exciting project whether it's purchasing an engraved brick which will be laid outside the front porch of the Main Stand, or asking your business or workplace to get involved in sponsorship deals.
There has never been a more exciting time to associate with Cambridge City Football Club but we need you to spread the word. Attached below is a commercials brochure that you can forward on to any contacts that you feel might want to be part of the journey with us.
Funds raised through this campaign will go towards the Journey Home Fund supporting development of the facilities so we can rise together as one
Thank you for your patience and un-waivering support, we're so close to finding our way home!
