Results:

Everton Fc 3-0 Cambridge City FC

Chelsea Fc 3-0 Cambridge City FC

AFAS 3-2 Cambridge City FC

With a number of key players unavailable through injury and personal reasons this was always going to be a challenge. We were fortunate to gain 2 loan players from Everton for the day, Bel Dorman and Charlie Marsh.

Despite the challenges the team put in fantastic performance and showed what we are capable of, the experience and commitment from Eanna Durham, Neil Hoey, Kevan O'Rouke, and Thomas Atkinson meant we maintained a solid defence.

The scorelines against both Everton and Chelsea didn't reflect either game and flattered the opposition.

Also fantastic performances from Wayne Cox and our 2 loan players Bel and Charlie throughout the day helped gel the team together.

Our 3rd match of the day was against AFAS (Combined Scotland Team), this was an end to end game and a great strike from Kevan O'Rouke leveled the score at 1-1.

Our 2nd goal again to level the scoreline was a milestone for Bel Dorman, her 1st league goal and what a goal it was, a quality ball in the box by Neil Hoey and a fantastically weighted header to put the ball in the top corner.

City then ran out of steam after a very demanding game and without having a fresh sub took its toll with us going down 3-2 with literally the last kick of the game.

So many positives to take away, with players coming back from injury and expected to be available for next league matches on the 25th Aprilwe expect to field a competitive squad more than capable of beating the likes of Chelsea and Everton.

Congratulations to the overall winners of the League Cup Everton!

Thank you to manager Duncan Rumbelow, for this week’s roundup.

Next fixtures to be played Saturday 25th April
