Disability FA Cup Champions!

Huge congratulations to our brilliant Amputee Team who this morning beat Chelsea 3-2 after extra time to lift the Disability FA Cup!

The final, played in the inspiring surroundings of St George's Park, was closely contested, with the Lilywhites trailing 1-0 at half time. The team displayed great character to dominate the play, and deservedly equalised late on through TJ Yates with a neat finish. City thought they'd won it when TJ buried a header going into stoppage time, but an unfortunate own goal gifted Chelsea an equaliser to take the final into extra time.

As usual, TJ was on hand to poke home for his hat trick a minute into extra time and with the score at 3-2 City showed great spirit to keep Chelsea at bay. There were amazing scenes at full time when the realisation sunk in that this team, who were only assembled in February, and had never actually been all together in the same place until this morning, had completed a what is a truly magnificent achievement.

Duncan Rumbelow has done an amazing job to lift such a prestigious piece of silverware in such a short space of time, and if the Lilywhites can finish second in the league, that will deliver European football for this wonderful group of players next season.
