It's been a busy summer for us on and off the pitch with all the changes taking place. We can confirm that we will be starting the season at St Ives Town FC, however we hope this won't be for long. We would like to thank them for their continued support.
One of the longest hold ups was installing power to the site. Last week our substation was finally energised after a year of legal delays, this is a massive step forward , not only in getting the stadium open but it will result in a big cost reduction, as hiring a generator and fuelling it regularly, in particular in the winter months is extremely costly!
Other progress that has been made includes;
Pitch markings and maintenance
Goals
Safety features including grip tape on steps and yellow hazard paint markings etc
Thanks to the volunteers who have assisted with this.
The next elements that we need to address are installation of the following temporary buildings:
Club Boardroom
Hospitality & Bar
Medical Room
Toilets
Changing Rooms (connecting to utilities)
Once we have all these facilities installed, we will satisfy the requirements for Isthmian League football, but the story doesn't end there. We also need to acquire building regulation sign-off for all of these temporary buildings. However as they are all prefabricated it means they already meet the right standard and it should be a simple process to get this over the line.
Finally We had a successful visit from the Chairman of the Isthmian League, Nick Robinson who was overwhelmed with our new stadium and like us can’t wait for us to start playing in it.
We also had a further meeting around Building Regulations and Health & Safety with more boxes to tick on protocols before we can start playing at Sawston.
As always, you will be the first to know as soon as we have an opening date.
