Cambridge City FC can today announce that we have reached an agreement with St Ives Town FC to ground share for the beginning of the 2023/24 season.
We would like to put on record our thanks to Histon FC who have supported us for the past 5 seasons, and we are looking forward to returning to St Ives who have installed a fantastic 3G playing surface since we last played there.
City Chairman Kevin Satchell said “Cambridge City are very grateful to St. Ives Town for agreeing to this temporary groundshare. We have a great relationship with the club, and I am sure our fans will be impressed with their wonderful new 3G playing surface and improved facilities”.
Commenting on the agreement, St Ives Chairman Paul Reason said “We have a good relationship with Cambridge City and are delighted to assist them whilst they wait for their new stadium to be completed. This is a temporary arrangement, and unlike before, the pitch will not be compromised as we now have an excellent 3G playing surface. We are delighted to offer the hand of friendship to City, and I am confident that this short-term arrangement will be a successful one for both parties”.
The FWD-IP Community Stadium will prove to be the premier football stadium at this level once completed with an official capacity of 3000, Conference Facilities, a community hub and of course our very own 3G pitch for both club and community use. It is hoped the revenue generated from the new ground will bring much-needed financial security and help City to progress both on and off the pitch
