City Partner with #HERGAMETOO

Cambridge City Football Club are proud to announce a partnership with Her Game Too who campaign against sexism in football.

Her Game Too was founded by 12 passionate female football fans who are committed to creating an ethos in football in which women are welcomed and respected equally. They achieve this through educational work with clubs, trusts and supporters to create welcoming environments for women and girls along with campaigning against sexism and online abuse.

City have become the latest club across the football pyramid to partner with Her Game Too which boasts partnerships with six Premier League clubs along with clubs in the Football League. As part of the partnership the club will be assigned an ambassador from Her Game Too who will work alongside the clubs existing equality and inclusion team to encourage women and girls to attend matches by creating a safe and inclusive environment and championing female role models associated with the club.

Kirstylee Richardson, Her Game Too ambassador, said; “Her Game Too is a movement set up by 12 female football fans with the aim to raise awareness of the sexist abuse in football. Our aim is to tackle the misogynistic culture surrounding football so we can create a better and more inclusive atmosphere for female fans for now and the next generation.”

“We feel it is important to have the support and backing of football clubs across the country, so we are delighted to be partnering with Cambridge City FC. The work Cambridge City FC has already done to support equality in the game has been fantastic to see and we hope they will inspire other football clubs further down the line.”

Sarah Hudson from Cambridge City Ladies and Girls added; “I am really pleased that Cambridge City FC can become a part of this fantastic campaign! Moving forward as the club becomes a bigger presence in the community, it’s fantastic that we can showcase the work of Her Game Too. Following the success of the women’s Euros it’s a fantastic time to be part of the women’s game and we hope partnering with Her Game Too will raise the profile of the role of women in football at Cambridge City FC.”
