The final parability tournament of the season took place on Coldham’s Common on 5th June.
What has been a challenging season at times reached a great conclusion with the A team retaining its title and the B team having a strong end to its campaign.
Cambridge City A team finished with a 1-0 win v United thanks to a late Maradona-like run and shot by Jacob and a 0-0 draw v Histon which we dominated. This meant that we ended up on 54 points as champions, comfortably clear of United and Histon who both had 43 points.
This doesn’t tell the whole story. Sometimes with a player short or having to play players out of position, the effort and endeavour by the team has been exceptional. On 3 or 4 occasions we’ve battled to 1-0 wins grabbing late goals against teams with a number of substitutes at their disposal.
The B team clocked up three comfortable wins, 6-0, 4-0 and 2-0, with the goals shared around. Josh P bagged a hat-trick in the 6-0 victory. We lost 1-0 to St Ives in a game in which we were pretty unlucky and dominated most of the play. Which meant we came second overall to St Ives - worthy champions over the course of the season. This is very creditable in that we had to concede one tournament through lack of players which meant 4 defeats awarded against us.
So overall a very successful season again for City, despite several departures at the end of the last campaign. Thanks to Stuart for his continued support and Pauline for taking some great photos throughout the season. Paul is still looking for an assistant to help him and any potential players should also speak to him. We look forward to 24/25 being just as enjoyable.
We are currently on the look out for an additional member of the coaching staff, If you are interested in joining the parability team either as a player or as a coach, please contact Head Coach Paul Davies on 07932 649318
