The new side will bridge the gap between youth and senior football, giving promising players the chance to train and play in a competitive environment while developing the skills, experience, and mindset needed to progress to the first team.

We are pleased to confirm that Shaun Sowden will take charge as Development Team Manager, who is not a stranger to the club as he currently works with Neil Midgley managing our U18s Thurlow Nunn team and comes with many years experience playing and coaching. The team will be supported by Ian Reeves as Team Secretary, who we warmly welcome to the club and thank him for agreeing to take this role on.

Director of Boys Youth Development, Neil Midgley said:

“The launch of our Development Team is a big step forward for the club. It gives talented young players a clear route into senior football and helps us build a strong future for Cambridge City FC both on and off the pitch. We’re delighted that Shaun has agreed to manage the team and delighted to welcome Ian into the City family and can’t wait to see the team in action.

We are still on the look out for players and possible coach to further develop the team, if you are interested please email your details and CV to Alice.dewey@cambridgecityfc.com

The Development Team will kick off their season on Tuesday 19th August with a home match at the FWD-IP Community Stadium against West Wratting, kick-off 7:45pm.

They will be stepping out next week in their new adidas kit which has kindly been sponsored by IT for Starters & Herbies Bakes, therefore mirroring the Men’s First team kit sponsors. We would like to extend a big thank you to Darren and Paul as they continue to support our club in many ways.
