All the early pressure came from Shelford, but in the 30th minute, following a Shelford hand ball in the area, the City side were awarded a penalty which Josh Lowe converted to give City the lead.

The lead lasted until 5 minutes before half time when Shelford were awarded a free kick a yard outside the City area and scored direct from the free kick.

Half time: Shelford 1 City Development 1.

One minute into the 2nd half Shelford scored their 2nd goal to take the lead but the City side raised their game and 10 minutes later, after good work by Isaac Maynard, Harry English beat the keeper to level the scores at 2 all.

Both teams pressed for the winner but as extra time looked probable it was Shelford who had the break. Was the player offside? Did the ball actually cross the line? The referee's decision was, 'no' and 'yes' and the score was 3 - 2.

City threw 4 players up front as they pressed for an equaliser but in stoppage time it was Shelford who managed to find the net again and take their place in the next round of the Cliff Bullen Challenge Cup.

Final score: Great Shelford 4 City Development Team 2.
