Cambridge City U14 girls completed their season in style with a win in the Weetabix League Cup final. City started the brighter and totally dominated the first half with 2 goals from Hannah Seymour-Shove, and Beatrice Fitzsimons. The second half was a different story however, with Kettering looking much stronger. Despite good saves from keeper Rebecca Bull, Kettering clawed their way back into the game with 3 well taken goals levelling the scores with 10 minutes remaining. The City girls are made of great character and Lola Boulter picked up the ball fully 30 yards from goal and looked up to fire a shot straight into the top corner giving the keeper absolutely no chance. A serious injury to City defender Jasmine Coulson was a worry for the City girls, but they were determined to win the game and Issy Davison put the game beyond doubt after a great tackle in the area and slotting home. Kettering put up a great performance and their management team were exemplary in the way they helped with the injury to Jasmine Coulson.
The end of the season is more remarkable for City as the girls have now been playing together for five years and have completed the League and Cup double on every occasion. They were also County champions and Central region winners in the Tesco cup and national finalists. What a season!
