City to play in pre-season tournament

Cambridge City will take part in a pre-season competition to mark 125 years of the Hunts FA.

The Hunts FA 125 Premier Cup will be held between 15 July and 10 August and will feature eight teams playing in two groups of four.

City are in group one alongside Somersham Town, Huntingdon Town and St Ives Town. Whilst group two consists of Eynesbury Rovers, Biggleswade United, Yaxley and St Neots Town.

The group fixtures are:

Somersham v City (Group 1)
Huntingdon Town v St Ives Town (Group 1)
Eynesbury Rovers v Biggleswade United (Group 2)
Yaxley v St Neots Town (Group 2)

Ties to be played between Monday 15 and Saturday 20 July

Huntingdon Town v City (Group 1)
St Ives Town v Somersham Town (Group 1)
Yaxley v Biggleswade United (Group 2)
St Neots Town v Eynesbury Rovers (Group 2)

Ties to be played between Monday 22 and Saturday 27 July

St Ives Town v City (Group 1)
Somersham Town v Huntingdon Town (Group 1)
St Neots Town v Biggleswade United (Group 2)
Eynesbury Rovers v Yaxley (Group 2)

Ties to be played between Monday 29 July and Saturday 3 August

FINAL: Between Monday 5 and Saturday 10 August featuring the winners of each group.

The standard 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw will be awarded. If the scores are level after 90 minutes, then the tie goes direct to a penalty shoot-out.

City Vice-Chairman Terry Dunn said "I'm delighted to see Cambridge City in this competition that celebrates 125 years of the Hunts FA. It will make up a substantial part of our pre-season programme and I am sure the fixtures will be competitive and enjoyable for all teams taking part",
