EVO-STIK League South Div. One Central: Kempston Rovers 1 Cambridge City 1

City went some way to forgetting a poor evening in Aylesbury during midweek by securing a point at Kempston, although they had to come from behind to do so.

The first half saw little to choose between the sides. Although both had opportunities, the closest the deadlock came to being broken was after around 20 minutes when Joel Gyasi forced a good save from James Martin in the home goal.

City once more came close to edging in front shortly after the break, but Mickey Davis saw his well placed free-kick turned away by Martin.

A few minutes later and Kempston had a good sight of Jamie Head's goal, but Scott Joseph could not get his effort on target at the back post.

Five minutes later and Joseph became the provider, laying the ball in to Dan Akubuine who made no mistake with his chance, firing the ball through Head's legs and into the net.

Stung into action, City pressed for a response and found it thirteen minutes later when Ryan Sharman pounced on Kempston's failure to clear to poke the ball beyond Martin from close range.

With a swirling wind making things difficult, neither side was able to force the winning goal in the remaining minutes, although Kempston came close at one point when Ross Paterson was forced to clear the balll off the line.
