A visit to high flying Cambridge University Press was always going to be a tough encounter for the Development Team.
From the kick off City found themselves defending valiantly against an onslaught of attacks from the home side, but the City defence, marshalled by Rob Scrutton held firm, with Joe Isaacson in the City goal more than playing his part.
City were only getting scraps of possession, but creating some promising moves with what little they were getting, with the lively Chris Racher looking particularly dangerous.
The turning point in the game came in the 27th minute when, following a collision in the goalmouth, keeper Joe Isaacson, obviously in great pain, limped off with a hip injury. Defender Victor Garcia came off the bench and put on the gloves.
The City defence seemed to lose confidence, suddenly looking very vulnerable and Press grabbed the advantage with three quick goals in the 37th, 40th and 44th minutes to take a half time lead of 3 - 0.
The second half opened with City again under pressure, but looking more settled. As the half progressed, Victor Garcia looked increasingly confident and competent in goal and Morgan Cogman-Wright impressed alongside his centre back partner, Rob Scrutton.
In the 62nd minute Press were awarded a free kick two yards outside the City box, but the defensive wall held firm.
Five minutes later, at the other end, Harry Farrow came close to pulling a goal back but hit the post.
The final goal came in the 85th minute when Victor Garcia did well to get down and parry the first shot, but stood no chance with the 2nd attempt.
