As the score line suggests it was an entertaining game between the City youngsters and a very experienced team that lies 3rd in the division.
The early play was dominated by City and they found themselves 3 goals up after 20 minutes.
In the first minute City gained a corner on their left and Harry Farrow scored direct from the kick to give City an early lead.
Three minutes later Press came close to equalising when City keeper Brad Green had to dive to his left to push a shot from 5 yards out away for a corner. At the other end Jack Challis's thirty yard shot was pushed over the bar for a corner and from the resultant corner Chris Racher hit the post.
In the 9th minute pressure from Bobby Freil caused a defender to head into is own goal from the edge of the box to make it 2 0 for City.
City were playing a high tempo game and both strikers, Harry Farrow and Bobby Freil were causing the visiting defense problems, but in the 20th minute it was Chris Racher who scored City's third goal when after weaving his way round three defenders his rising shot from the edge of the box gave the keeper no chance.
The 3 goal lead was negated, within 6 minutes. The visitors first goal was a result of poor defensive work by City, the second was rather fortuitous for the visitors as the City keeper seemed to have the 20 yard shot well covered when he slipped and lost his footing. The 3rd goal came from a corner on the left that was deflected into the net.
Back on level terms the visitors were now pressing for the lead, but it was City who scored next.
Lewis Carter took a free kick out on the right, squaring the ball for Aaron Hiscock whose first time shot from 30 yards powered through the defense and into the net to make it 4 -3.
The lead lasted for less than 5 minutes before Press again levelled and made the half time score:
City Development 4 University Press 4.
The second half saw the visitors upping the pressure on the City defence, but they held fast until the 67th minute when a momentary loss of concentration and a misunderstanding in defence allowed Press to score their 5th goal.
City were still looking dangerous on the break and Finn Cater came close when he hut the bar but in the 78th minute Press broke through and scored their 6th goal.
As both teams tired City continued to press and Finn Cater was again unlucky when, with 2 minutes to go, the visiting keeper pulled of a first class save to push his header away for a corner.
