Eastern Region Women's Premier League

Haringey Borough 1 : 11 Cambridge City

City Ladies got their 2019 campaign under way on Sunday with an emphatic away victory at Haringey Borough. It wasn't long before the Lilywhites had taken control of the match, playing some superb free flowing football. By half-time, the visitors had a comfortable lead and looked fully deserving of their lofty league position. The second half continued in much the same vein as the first period and by the time the referee blew for full time, seven different City players had found the back of the net. Although Haringey are rooted at the wrong end of the table, they are a team who deserve to be doing better and were rightly rewarded with a consolation goal. This was a great result for the Ladies, who take their unbeaten run into the New Year. It was pleasing to see Ceri Flye making her first team debut. As expected, the talented 16 year old put in a solid performance.

Scorers for City were: Carla Penny x 3, Bella Simmons x 3, Erin Davies, Charlotte Gillies, Anna Goggin, Lauren Tomlinson and Rebecca Fay.

Next Sunday it is League Cup action for the Ladies when they entertain Hutton at Trinity. It is a 1.30 pm kick off.
