As a contest, the game was over by half time when City found themselves 4 - 0 down. Most of the first 45 minutes was played in the City half with no meaningful attacks on the Hemingford goal.
The 4 goals, all well taken, came from undefended crosses from the Hemingford right wing.
The first goal, which came in the 4th minute, was volleyed home from the edge of the box. The second, a similar effort, in the 17th minute.
The third goal, in the 26th minute, and the 4th goal, in the 43rd minute, both came from headers on the edge of the 6 yard box.
Hemingford could easily have been further ahead but were thwarted by a fine display by Brad Green in the City goal.
The second half saw a more even contest. The City defence tightened up and they started to put some pressure on Hemingford with Chris Racher looking dangerous whenever he got the ball.
A City goal was looking more than a possibility when a serious injury to a Hemingford player resulted in a 5 minute stoppage for injury. When the game re-started the momentum was with Hemingford. The City defence switched off, they dallied in their own box and conceded two soft goals.
But, even though the light was fading, City weren't. They fought back and gained a corner on the right. The kick found Lewis Carter whose rocketing shot was tipped over the bar for another corner. The subsequent kick found Chris Racher in a crowded goalmouth. He bundled the ball goalwards, it was immediately snapped up by the keeper but the well placed linesman had no hesitation in signalling that the ball had crossed the line for a well deserved goal.
