The City Development Team came away from their visit to the league champions with a point, but it could well have been three.
City had an early setback in the 3rd minute when everyone, including the home supporters, but not the linesman, thought the West Wratting striker was 2 yards offside when he put the home side one goal up.
City took a while to adjust to the diagonally sloping pitch and it was the 12th minute before they had a real scoring chance when Jude White was brought down three yards outside the box. He took the kick himself, but it was deflected off the defensive wall for a corner.
Three minutes later a left footed cross from Gui Milainocol found Chris Racher out on the right wing. He beat two players as he cut inside and, from the edge of the box, whipped in a left footed shot between two defenders that caught the goalkeeper flat footed and went in off the far post to make it 1 - 1.
Four minutes later in a similar move the cross found James Brown who cut inside, beat two men but saw his shot go just outside the far post.
In the 27th minute West Wratting were awarded a free kick for handball two yards outside the area. The kick beat the wall but Kieran Petty in the City goal did well to dive to his right and push it onto the post and away.
City were now looking very dangerous in possession, especially down the wings, with Jude White and Harry England on the left and James Brown and Chris Racher on the right and a second City goal before half time looked a probability, but in the 38th minute Jude White was sent for a 10 minute spell in the sin bin for dissent.
City, now reduced to 10 men, were on the back foot as West Wratting sought to capitalise, and in the 40th minute, following a corner, West Wratting were awarded a penalty, apparently for a push in the box.
It was a well taken kick but Kieran Petty was on outstanding form as he flung himself to the left and flew horizontally three feet off the ground across his goal to get a hand to the ball and keep it out of the net.
For the large part of the game the City defence was well organised and solid, but just before half time they 'switched off' allowing West Wratting to slip in a soft 2nd goal and give a half time score of West Wratting 2, City Development 1.
The second half started with City still down to 10 men and West Wratting pressing to increase their lead, but once they were back up to 11 men City started to take control and for long periods they kept West Wratting pressed back into their own half.
City manager Andy Jolley made full use of fresh legs from his subs bench against a tiring West Wratting side.
It wasn't until the final minute of normal time that City got their just deserves. A 25 yard drive from Chris Racher was tipped over the bar and following the resultant corner it was good work by Mendes that resulted in Morgan Stephens getting the equaliser for City.
