Don't forget it's trials day next week.........

Under 15s

Linton Aztecs 0 : 6 Cambridge City

Following an emphatic victory in midweek, the under 15s made the relatively short trip to Linton on Saturday, in confident mood. The sight of the league title is slowly becoming more in focus for this very talented team and they knew that three points would be a major step in getting their hands on the trophy. City proved to be too strong for a spirited home side and a five goal haul from Issy Bryant, plus one from winger Aino Turunen, means that the Lilywhites now only need one more victory to be certain of the title. The Player of the Match was Jess Utting.

Under 14s

Cambridge City 3 : 2 ICA Sports (Peterborough)

This was billed as the 'top v second' title decider and it didn't disappoint with regards to excitement for the sizeable crowd. City and ICA are the two stand out teams in the league and they both put on an impressive display of football. City took a two goal lead but were kept on their toes when the visitors pulled one back. A third for the Lilywhites only temporarily provided a comfortable cushion before ICA kept their hopes alive with a second goal. With goal mouth action at both ends providing a fitting finale to this encounter, it was City who eventually won the day. The scorers for the Lilywhites were: Aime Fullwood, Isabelle Ely and Yael Benyamin. Although technically the title is not yet won by City, they only need one point from their remaining two games and it looks a safe bet considering that they haven't dropped any points from their last 16 matches.

Under 13As

City under 12s celebrating their victory with a certain Mr Keegan!

This season, the under 13As have been playing up a year in the league. Over the weekend, they reverted to their true age group (under 12s) and made the long trip to Minehead to take part in the ESF 2018 national tournament at Butlins. Over the two days, the girls played eight matches against other good quality teams and won seven of them (and drew the other). Not surprisingly, City came away having won the tournament and to add icing to the cake, they also won the fair play award too. They will now head off to St Georges Park later in the year to contest the national finals. Well done girls. Fantastic achievement.

Under 13Bs

Cambridge City 0 : 0 Linton Aztecs

Great start by City who pressed right from the start. A succession of corners by Maddy saw the visiting keeper make some great saves, with Ellie W and Lina hitting the bar. City dominated with Marisa on the left and Evie on the right. Siri in goal, Hollie, Lottie and Sara defending superbly.

In the second period Emma kept up the pressure for the Lilywhites but nothing was getting past the Linton keeper who was putting in a superb performance for her team. With City pushing forward, Linton found gaps and Siri had to make two great saves. A missed penalty by Maddy and numerous other saves by the Linton keeper saw an exciting game end goal less. Entertaining to watch though.

The City Player of the Match award went to Lina.

Under 12s

Netherton United 2 : 6 Cambridge City

City travelled north to Peterborough on Saturday to face Netherton with a game plan; to stop their star player. For ten minutes, the plan didn't go too well. City were two down and she scored both! Suddenly, the girls clicked and the plans started to fall into place. The visitors shut down the identified threat and frustrated them while imposing their own match-winners on them. Lucy Short and Bella Alexsson’s pace and attacking threat caused all sorts of problems for the home side. Emily White was always causing the back line problems, while Leah Holmes and Erin Burling’s work-rate stood out and goals where inevitable. Bella struck twice in quick succession to level things up at half time.

In the second half City dominated. Laura Thompson, Millie Fairbrass and Captain Tilly Owers kept things tight at the back before City finally took the lead. Emily White volleyed in from a corner before Lucy Short added two more individual strikes as City took complete control. After Netherton snatched a third, City scored the goal of the game. A five person 'one touch' passing move through the heart of the opposition, released Bella to complete her hat trick. With Poppy, Maaya and Kitty also playing their part in the victory, it showed that Together Everyone Achieves More. A great TEAM performance.

Under 9s

Cambridge City v Cambourne

The under 9s before their victory against Cambourne

The under 9s welcomed Cambourne to Netherhall on Saturday for a friendly game. Under the guidance of manager Will Dopadlik, the Lilywhites have come on so well recently. The emphasis is very much directed towards having fun and both teams certainly seemed to be enjoying things. A few goals always brings a smile to the young faces too. A great match, with both teams working so hard. Well done girls.
