It was a disappointing outcome for the young City side with a starting eleven all under 21 and containing 8 youth players.
The first half saw City producing some attractive, high tempo football and dominating a large part of the game.
The Development Team had a chance to take the lead in the 12th minute when, to the surprise of both sides, they were awarded a soft penalty after a foul on Harry English as he burst into the box. Josh Lowe took the kick and saw the keeper parry his shot and gather the ball at the second attempt.
Half Time: City Development 0 Hemingford 0.
The second half was a more balanced affair but City were put on the back-foot after 5 minutes when a high ball into the box gave Hemingford a 1 goal lead.
Hemingford were now playing with more confidence and were looking for a second goal, but the City defence, with centre half and Captain for the day James Brown setting the example, were looking solid.
As the half progressed once more the effects of too many games in too short a time was starting to show on the City youngsters. As legs tired their pace dropped, but not their endeavour. The deserved equaliser failed to materialise.
Full Time: City Development 0 Hemingford 1.
