Player availability and injuries meant Manager Andy Jolley had to don the goalkeeper's jersey himself to make up a starting eleven.
As to be expected, all the early pressure came for the home side as the re-arranged City defence found their feet. But they held firm, and as the half progressed, Josh Lowe, Harvey Bullin, Connor Loker and Isaac Maynard looked increasingly dangerous, both individually and as a unit, in attack.
It was in the last minute of the half that Harvey Bullin weaved through 6 Lakenheath players only to be brought down in the box by the keeper and Josh Lowe converted the penalty.
Half time: Lakenheath 0 City Development 1.
Barely 2 minutes had been played in the second half when James Brown instigated a move which involved both Josh Lowe and Harvey Bullin, and Connor Loker was there to crack the ball into the net giving City a 2 goal lead.
Lakenheath upped the pressure against a tiring City side and in the 62nd minute managed to get the best in a goalmouth bagatelle and scramble the ball into the net to make it Lakenheath 1 City 2.
With fresh legs from the bench Lakenheath pressed for the equaliser against the tiring City side, but with 8 minutes left, Isaac Maynard and Harvey Bullin beat the offside trap and a limping Karel Prince tapped in the cross from 2 yards for City's third goal.
But, within 3 minutes, a miss-kick and a miss directed header allowed Lakeheath to draw level with two own goals.
The final few minutes saw both teams pressing for a winning goal but to no avail.
Final score: Lakenheath 3 City Development 3.
A courageous display and some quality football by the City youngsters and a well earned point.
