It was a frustrating afternoon for Development Team manager Andy Jolley as he watched a Jekyll and Hyde performance from his team. In attack they looked sharp and dangerous but in defence, exhibited a succession of costly errors.
City took the lead in the 5th minute when a short ball from Victor Garcia found Ryan Auger who put through for Josh Lowe to hook home.
City 1 Comberton 0
City continued to look the most dangerous but in the 20th minute they failed to clear a free kick and Comberton levelled the score and, 8 minutes later, indecision in the City defence, allowed Comberton to take the lead.
Half time: City 1 Comberton Utd. 2
The 2nd half again saw City creating some dangerous attacking moves and were rewarded in the 52nd minute when Ryan Auger again put Josh Lowe through to make it City 2 Comberton 2 but 2 minutes later, the City defence failed to clear a ball in the box, and Comberton again took the lead, increasing it 2 minutes later with a 4th goal.
Injuries necessitated three replacements for City, but they continued to produce some good attacking moves and were rewarded, in what had become a rather scrappy game, in the 85th minute when the visiting keeper failed to hold the ball and Ben Stamer was there to put it in the net.
City continued to create attacking moves, but to no avail.
