Supporters will now be aware that the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government has given permission for a new stadium to be built for the club at Sawston.
The club would like to point out that although they are delighted with the decision that has been granted, it is also mindful that once South Cambridgeshire District Council issue the planning permission there will be a period of six weeks where objectors can lodge a judicial review against the process. If nothing happens during that time then the club will clearly be able to move forward with the project.
The proposed development will see the construction of a 3,000 capacity stadium and community facility for Sawston and the surrounding area. Commenting on the decision from the Secretary of State, City Chairman Kevin Satchell said “It was great news for everyone connected with the club and the local community. However, we need to be aware of the next few weeks in case there are any objections to the process. If not, then we will be looking to finalise matters and move forward with the project and start making some real progress. I am sure that news will please our supporters and members of the local community who have been fantastic in their support of the proposed facility”.
