The home team had the best of the early play on the Cambourne 3G pitch and were rewarded in the 25th minute when a lack of communication in the City defence allowed them to take a one goal lead.
The City side were looking dangerous, but not taking their chances in the final third and the half finished:
Comberton United 1 City Development 0.
The 2nd half saw City increasingly taking control, and in the 54th minute, after good work by, Sergio Filiu and James Brown, Harry Farrow opened the scoring for City.
Shortly afterwards it was nearly a 2nd for City when Ryan Auger tried a blast from 30 yards that pulled a diving save out of the Comberton keeper.
The City side were now looking sharp, creating chances and starting to dominate the game and a second goal looked inevitable.
With 3 minutes of normal time left, manager Andy Jolley brought the diminutive under 16 player Christian Carter off the bench for his development team debut. He was quickly in the action in some sparkling approach work with the two Harrys, England and Farrow, slipping the ball to Josh Lowe to score the well deserved winning goal.
