The young City team showed grit and determination to take a point from their encounter with high flying Shelford in what was, at times, a fractious and vociferous game.
In the second minute the Shelford keeper had his first touch of the ball, picking it out of the net, after City broke down the right and Harry Farrow gave them a one goal lead.
Shelford fought back and had the majority of the game putting the City under a lot of pressure, but they still managed to make the occasional breakaway attack and nearly increased their lead when a Josh Lowe shot from twenty yards was acrobatically tipped over the bar by the Shelford keeper.
Five minutes from half time the Shelford pressure eventually paid off resulting in a half time score of City 1 Shelford 1.
The second half saw both teams creating chances. Aaron Chapman, in the City goal, having to make some fine reaction saves as was his opposite number.
An injury to Harry Farrow 13 minutes from time, meant he had to be replaced by Joe Mitten, who is better known as a goalkeeper, but the City side managed to hold on for a well earned draw.
