Sharman sets a new record

EVO-STIK South - East Division: Hartley Wintney 1 Cambridge City 2

Having rescued a point with a last gasp equaliser at Marlow last week, Ryan Sharman was the hero again as he popped up in the right place to net the winner against promotion rivals, Hartley Wintney. The goal was his tenth in consecutive league games and set a new club record. City took the lead midway through the first half from the penalty spot following a handball. Tom Knowles did the honours from the spot. City looked to be heading into the break with their lead intact, however, with only a couple of minutes left, Rowan Vine cracked a shot from just outside the area past Niall Conroy in the City goal.

A disappointing end to the half, but Sharman was the man to put the smiles back on City faces in the 54th minute when he powered a thumping downward header past the home keeper to restore the Lilywhites lead. The home side pressed for another leveler, but City held firm to maintain 2nd place in the table.
