From the kick off the City side were under considerable pressure from Cherryhinton, forcing some acrobatic saves from Aaron Chapman in the City goal, but it took to the 36th minute before Cherryhinton took the lead and the City side could consider themselves fortunate to be only one goal down at half time.
Manager Andy Jolley made half time changes, which resulted in a far better 2nd half display. In the 55th minute, following good work by Connor Loker and Josh Lowe, a cross found unmarked Isaac Maynard on the right who comfortably beat the keeper to score on his City debut and even the scores.
As the half continued, both sides had opportunities but there was no further score and the game moved into extra time.
Following a straight red card Cherryhinton were soon reduced to 10 men, but the tiring City side couldn't take advantage and, in the 24th minute of extra time, it was Cherryhinton who managed to get the ball in the net and earn a place in the next round.
