Match Preview: City v St Ives

There’s football action tonight as Cambridge City host landlords St Ives in the first round of the challenge cup.

Given that the Lilywhites had no league action at the weekend, City boss Robbie Nightingale is likely to field a strong side in what looks set to be a tough test for his team.

St Ives go into the fixture on the back of a 3-2 reverse against Merthyr Tydfil at the weekend, so will be looking for a morale boosting victory before their next fixture against Tiverton on Saturday.

Last season City lost out to Histon in a tie that went all the way to a penalty shoot-out. Meanwhile, St Ives went all the way to the final but lost agonisingly to Hayes and Yeading, again courtesy of a penalty shoot-out.

Kick-off at Westwood Road this evening is at 7:45pm.
