Cambridge City manager Robbie Nightingale has made a double signing ahead of the season opener with Ashford on Saturday.

Joining are midfielder Ryan Towner and striker Lewis Wilson.

Towner, 21, started out at Stevenage and spent a brief spell on loan at Bedford. After a spell with Chesham United, he moved to Royston where he made 72 appearances and was in the squad that won the Southern League Division One Central title last season.

Wilson, 24, arrives at City with a wealth of experience having previously played at the likes of Northampton Town, Kettering and Oxford City. Last season, he had a brief spell with St Neots Town where he joined from AFC Rushden and Diamonds. On Tuesday, Wilson scored a hat-trick in the final quarter of an hour to earn City a 3-3 draw in their final pre-season match at Norwich United.

The City boss was delighted with signings. He said "These are great additions to the squad and I look forward to sseing them in a City shirt".

Providing all the necessary paperwork is processed in time, both will be available for selection for Saturday.
