Nightingale happy with home start

Cambridge City manager Robbie Nightingale has given his reaction to the season fixtures that were released today.

City will start the campaign with a home fixture against Ashford Town (Middx) on 12 August. The first month of the season will also see the Lilywhites travel to Aylesbury, entertain Beaconsfield and a Bank Holiday Monday trip to Bedford Town.

"I am pleased that we are at home on the opening weekend. But that doesn't mean we will get a winning start as we will be taking nothing for granted. What it does mean is that it will give the opportunity for everyone to see us on the opening weekend, and I am sure there will be a lot of interest with it being our first game of the season, albeit in a different league".

Nightingale also said that his team would be raring to go for new campaign. "Training is going well, and we will be physically up for it. We are under no illusions about the task ahead, but I am pleased to get the campaign off to a home start and hopefully we will get a positive result".

August also sees City entertain Stamford in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup.
