Cambridge City can confirm the signing of goalkeeper Niall Conroy.

The 24 year old signed for City prior to the opening pre-season victory against Haverhill Borough yesterday. Conroy was formerly with Godmanchester and Histon before joining Soham in December last year.

He will become first choice keeper at City and will come under the watch of goalkeeping coach Zac Barrett.

Conroy said ďI am delighted to be joining Cambridge City. Itís a massive club and one that I grew up watching at Milton Road when I used to go to the games with my Grandad. I remember watching Martin Davies play as keeper and seeing Robbie Nightingale play so the club means a lot to me.

I started at Histon last season, and things didnít go well for me there and at Christmas I moved to Soham and we had a tough season, but we managed to stay up.

Itís good to be re-united with some of the Soham lads. Iíve known Jordan Gent since I was about 12 years old. We grew up in the same colts teams together so I understand how he plays. We also have Ian Miller who is a massive player for us. I have been here a short time but I have only heard good things about the club and I am also looking forward to working with Zac Barrett who will bring loads of experience as a goalkeeping coach and I will know I will learn a lot from himĒ
