Championship team retain their title but last minute heart ache for Premiership team.

Championship Champions display their trophy

Cambridge City B defender Matt was available for this final tournament of the season so the team were back to full strength. The B team have headed their championship league all season and were therefore very keen to retain the title they won for the first time last season. However Facet and Papworth Purples were both out to topple the City boys and some hard games were the order of the day. The City B team clinched the title with a hard fought 7-4 win over Papworth Purples.

Cambridge City A team headed their premiership league at the start of the day and knew that anything but a defeat by rivals Cambridge United would see them win their first ever league title. The Cambridge United team was much improved since the April tournament and we knew this was going to be a tough game especially as Jacob was missing from the City team due to work commitments. The City team were looking very comfortable at 0-0 but as often happens in such games they conceded a good goal from United in the last minute to end their dreams for another season.
