Ladies & Girls
Under 13s
Gunthorpe Harriers 0 : 3 Cambridge City
Last Saturday the under 13s were in cup semi-final action. They travelled north to face Peterborough team Gunthorpe Harriers. Initially, the game was in doubt due to the heavy ground but an early morning inspection deemed the pitch fit. The girls were aware that the surface may not help their passing game too much but they also knew that if they were to get the ball wide the flanks would be a little more forgiving.
The visitors adapted well and gradually took control of the game, helped in no small way by the determination and energy level of Niamh Davies who controlled the midfield. By half time City were one up and looked the likely of the two teams to book a place in the final. In the second period it was going to be a question of patience. This patience eventually paid off with a second goal for the Lilywhites which all but sealed their progression. The icing on the cake was a well taken goal from hard working Kayleigh Peters late on in the game. The other scorers were Tiana Walker and Jessica Wood. The Player of the Match award went to Niamh Davies. Well done girls, you will now face St Neots in the final. However, before that, there is the small issue of a visit to Yaxley next week in what is likely to be a challenging league fixture.
