The City championship squad with coach Ellie Cullum

For the first time ever Cambridge City were able to enter teams in both the Premiership and Championship leagues due to increased participation. However due to injury, work and college commitments both squads had no substitutes so the games got harder as the players tired and to make things worse the heavens opened during the October tournament.

The Premiership team is at last beginning to learn that shape, discipline and "letting the ball do the work" is all it takes to be successful at these tournaments and they only conceded one goal in all of their November matches. Goalkeeper Kenny made some exceptional saves to help keep the clean sheets but my MOM was Nathan for his unselfish play.

The new Championship team continues to improve as the players get to know each other and some of the skills they have learned at training sessions are now being reproduced during matches. Their high point was the 5-0 win in the October tournament when the whole team were brilliant. My MOM was Derek for his performances in goal and saving a penalty when the scores were equal in their game against Cambridge Regional College.
