Kershaw Senior League B: Comberton Utd 5 City Reserves 2

The Reserves travelled to Comberton looking to continue their good start to the season, but came back with their tails firmly between their legs after five second half goals gave Comberton a comfortable victory.

The game started well for our youngsters and in the 22nd minute we took the lead. Luke Youngs' pass found George Darling and he crossed for JORDAN NICHOLSON to fire home from the edge of the box.

Four minutes later a serious looking injury saw centre-half, Tom Sapsford, leave the field and be replaced by debutante, Ben Robinson.

In the 33rd minute we doubled our lead as Robinson and Ben Sawyer combined to set up NICHOLSON to score.

The second half was a totally different story as City conceded two goals in the space of a couple of minutes and the home side took control. They deservedly went in front in the 66th minute and although Adam Naylor had a goal ruled out for offside City never really threatened.

Two goals in the final three minutes gave a flattering look to the scoreline, however, the boys looked a well beaten side in the end.

Manager Simon Youngs commented "I didn't see this coming at half-time as we controlled the first half. We always knew we would struggle physically eventually and today was one of those days. One or two of the boys didn't fancy it at times, but credit to James Howard and Adam Naylor who both came on and made a difference. We won't get down about this defeat it is exactly what this season is about, a learning experience".
