Official News
Tonight, Cambridge City and Hednesford Town meet again just 4 months or 3 league games since the Pitmen demolished the Lilywhites on the final day of last season at Milton Road to secure a play off berth at the expense of Gary Roberts’ men.
City travel to Staffordshire to take on a Hednesford side who have invested over the summer. A number of new signings have been made giving them a potent attacking force which on paper makes them another contender for honours at the end of the season.
No stranger to City will be Mark Bellingham who has joined from Leamington. Also contributing to the forward line is Alfie Carter who was formerly with Welsh League side, New Saints and has already bagged two goals this season together with David Bridgewater.
Hednesford come into the match having lost only one game so far – on the opening day against Chippenham. Since then have netted 5 goals without conceding any. Their latest victory coming at Hemel Hempstead on Saturday following a 4-0 demolition of Banbury United last Tuesday.
City meanwhile travel to Staffordshire after 3 difficult games to start the season, but still unbeaten. A 0-0 draw at Brackley opened the campaign, but the City faithful have been treated to two cracking games in recent days at Milton Road. A 3-2 victory at home to Leamington last Tuesday and a dramatic late come back from Salisbury on Saturday meaning that City had to be content with a 3-3 draw.
The City team news is that James Krause looks set to remain sidelined following the injury he picked up on the opening day at Brackley. So this means that boss Gary Roberts is likely to keep with the same starting line-up from Saturday. Therefore, Joey Abbs is set to play at left back after impressing against Salisbury.
The forward line will see Craig Hammond continue who has impressed so far having scored 3 goals already this season. David Kolodynski is likely to start alongside him, and John Sands could play a part after coming off the bench at the weekend.
If you are not going to the game, then there will be full coverage on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire with Andy Abbott providing live updates from the ground and the messageboard will also have details too throughout the evening. Win, lose or draw make sure you log onto the official site tomorrow for the match report and post match reaction from Gary Roberts.
