Reserves
Kershaw Senior League "B": City Reserves 1 Great Paxton 1
City's young Reserves gained a hard earned point against a strong Paxton outfit on a wet night at Milton Road last night.
With only 12 players available due to holidays and injury, the boys can take credit from their first competitive adult match.
Early chances came and went for City, but on 15 minutes great work by Brown in the midfield created a chance for SAWYER who slotted past the advancing keeper. Although the visitors had the majority of the possession it was the home team that created the better chances. Darling, Sawyer and Brown all going close.
However, in first half injury-time Paxton equalised from a corner through Clarke.
The 2nd half saw much of the same with City still having good chances to score and Paxton having the lions share of the play. Both teams had penalty claims turned down in the last few minutes, but overall, both teams will be happy with a point.
Team : Brandon, Youngs, O'Donohue, Walter, Guy (c), Duncan, Brown, Flack, Balde (Robinson 66), Darling, Sawyer.
Manager Simon Youngs commented "A lot of our boys have never played 90 minutes, let alone adult football, so I have to be happy with the result. Having 6 players unavailable tests you as a squad and we came through it. It's a good start for us and with a couple of boys back for next Wednesday we will get stronger and stronger as the season goes on"
