Reserves happy with first outing

Pre-Season Friendly: Cherry Hinton 1 City Reserves 1

On Friday evening at Pembroke College Sports Ground the Reserves started their pre-season build up.

The entire squad for the night were 16 year-old lads with 10 coming from the successful under 16 side from last season. The others were made up of trialists who have been training with the squad.

City lost Sam Hobson and Luke Youngs with injuries picked up at training the night before and only 5 minutes into the game James Howard also limped off with an ankle injury.

The boys adapted to the physical side of the game well and took the lead on the half hour. A good move involving Brett Wyman, Ben Sawyer and Joey Nicholson saw Adam Naylor apply the finish. City kept the pressure on Cherry Hinton but were also doing well to cancel out their superior height advantage at set pieces.

The 2nd half saw City make several changes and our opponents equalised 10 minutes into the half. Our heads didn't go down though and towards the end, missed several chances to have won.

The game ended all square but was a good tester for the boys who will be playing in Kershaw B this coming season.
