Preview of City v Fulbourn tomorrow

Following on from their match against Great Shelford last Saturday, City face another Kershaw League outfit, in the shape of Fulbourn Institute tomorrow afternoon, as their pre-season programme continues to gather pace.

The two sides are no strangers as they came head to head only as far back as January in the Cambs Invitation Cup. On that occasion, City recorded a 3-1 victory.

City go into the game following a spirited display against Blue Square Bet Premier side, Luton Town on Tuesday night, when they held the Hatters to a 1-1 draw at Milton Road.

Manager Gary Roberts is continuing to take a look at some trialists who have featured in the pre-season games so far, and will be looking to make a decision on the likes of Craig Hammond, Joey Abbs, Declan Rogers and Dalton O’Brien.

The City right back slot is also up for grabs meaning that the likes of Tom McGowan, Richard Ashie and Alex Austin are likely to stake a claim for a place in the City squad as the league opener at Brackley edges ever closer.

Fulbourn meanwhile are preparing for life in the Kershaw League once again this season under the guidance of former City boss, Chris Tovey. Last season, Fulbourn finished as champions of the Kershaw League, but didn’t apply for promotion.

Supporters should note that the game takes place at St Catharine’s College Sports Ground on South Green Road (off Grantchester Meadows) with a kick-off tomorrow afternoon at 2:00pm.
