Hormead Hares U 15s Girls 0 - Cambridge City Girls U15s 6

City rounded off their league campaign with a visit to the strong Hormead Hares. Despite one or two showing some after effects of the Cup win on the Tuesday and with only eleven available players, City took the game to the home side from the kick off. Early chances went begging until the persistent Issy Davison deceived the Hormead keeper with a dipping shot. Nuala Wayne crashed a shot against the bar and the home keeper made a number of brave saves before City eased into a comfortable three goal lead with two goals in two minutes. First Nuala Wayne headed in an Issy Davison corner then Hannah Seymour –Shove nipped through the defence to head over the advancing keeper.

Lauren Rouse who had spent a fairly quiet first half in goal thanks to the defence of Jazzy Coulson, Mia Wayne, Annie Graham and Shannon Manchett changed places with Hannah Plumb for the second half. City continued to look the stronger team and a fourth goal was given to Lauren Rouse whose pressure forced the ball into the goal off a defender. Issy Davison got her second of the match when she latched onto a loose pass from the defence and coolly picked her spot, while Lola Boulter, who was full of neat touches in midfield, got on the scoring sheet with a great drive that went in off the underside of the bar.Mia Wayne, City’s player of the match, used her speed to clear up the Hormead attacks and City created several more scoring chances. Jade Powell, who was driving everything forward from midfield, came within a whisker of scoring and the pace of City’s top goal scorer Issy Davison’s continued to cause havoc with the home team’s defence, but the score stayed at six nil to City.

Once again City completed the league programme winning every game. They scored 83 goals over the fourteen games and conceded only eight, despite not having a regular goal keeper for several of the matches.Kevin Jacklin is to be congratulated on the fantastic spirit that he has instilled in his squad and the quality of the football that they play.

City scorers: Issy Davison 2
Nuala Wayne 1
Hannah Seymour-Shove 1
