Cambridge City Football Club can today announce that manager Gary Roberts has agreed a two year extension to his current contract that sees him commit to the Lilywhites until the end of the 2011/12 season.

Roberts, who has been in charge at Milton Road since January 2003 has put together a squad this year that is challenging for a promotion play-off spot in the Zamaretto League, a feat that was achieved last season too.

Having been at the club for 7 years, Roberts has seen plenty of changes behind the scenes, but that hasn’t stopped him producing good football for the City faithful with an often limited playing squad. He’s also managed to recruit players to Milton Road that have moved onto a higher grade of football such as Scott Neilson who moved to league 2 side Bradford City earlier this season.

Chairman Kevin Satchell commented “Everyone at the club should be delighted that Gary has agreed to an extension of his current contract. He has shown tremendous loyalty to Cambridge City in recent years and now with the club planning its future away from Milton Road there is a need for continuity, and as such we are obviously pleased that he has agreed to stay with us”.

Roberts commented “I’ve been pleased to be associated as manager of City since 2003, and am delighted to accept the offer of an extension to my current contract. I look forward to being part of a bright new era for the club that will lead us back to Cambridge and a new home”.
