City U16 Girls travelled to Wisbech St Mary in the first round of the Tesco Cup and came away 2-1 winners thanks to a “brace” from Hannah Lock. After going two goals up the City Girls were put under pressure by the Wisbech girls and eventually conceded with just ten minutes left to play. The last ten minutes were frantic but the City girls managed to hold out thanks to two last minute goal line clearances. The City Girls now play Walden Spirits in the second round on 27th February.

The City Girls were on the road again as they travelled to Peterborough for a League Cup semi-final against Peterborough Ladies. The City Girls took the lead half way through the first half when Captain Jennifer Turner dribbled past three players before unleashing an unstoppable drive from twenty five yards. However the Peterborough Ladies drew level just before half time when Natasha Applegate went clear from a free kick and gave Kags Whitehead in the City goal no chance when she powered the ball home from eight yards. The second half was again evenly matched and although both sides had their chances to win the game it ended 1-1 at full time. With both sides tiring in the heavy conditions in Extra time neither team was able to add to their score.
City Girls ran out winners by three goals to one in the penalty shoot out with goals from Kayleigh Whitehead, Chelsea Edmead and Jennifer Turner. Kags Whitehead in the City goal was in tremendous form and only conceded one penalty goal. The City Girls now play either Histon or Bishops Stortford in the Final which will hopefully be staged at Milton Road.
