Cambridge City Girls U 15s 10 - Guyhirn Youth U 15s 0

City’s impressive goal scoring run continued at the expense of a battling Guyhirn, despite a slow start when the visitors exerted more pressure. After seven minutes it was Issy Davison who raced onto a through ball for a neat finish, three minutes later Nuala Wayne added a second and then a third five minutes later, when Lola Boulter, who was outstanding in midfield, threaded a beautiful pass through to her. City looked solid at the back where Stacy Carter handled well in goal and cleared her lines impressively. In front of her Sophie Smith, Mia Wayne, Jazzy Coulson, Hannah Plumb and later Annie Graham all defended strongly and sent the ball forward. In midfield Lauren Rouse, Lola Boulter and Shannon Manchett were winning a lot of ball and picking their passes well. The score stayed at three nil until half time despite City creating several chances.

City battled on relentless in the second half. When Lola Boulter forced the ball home, then Nuala Wayne chased a bouncing Issy Davison through ball and hammered it into the roof of the net, before she picked up a rebound from the brave Guyhirn keeper for her fourth and City’s sixth. Lauren Rouse then came forward from midfield before unleashing an unstoppable thirty yard drive. If that was the goal of the match, it would have been eclipsed by a superb drive from Beatrice Fitzsimons soon after that crashed against the bar and came out. Nuala Wayne, the City captain, was having a terrific game showing all her strength and skill and for the second week running scored five goals, when she headed home from an Issy Davison corner. Issy Davison then scored herself after a neat three pass move starting with Nuala Wayne and carried on by the tireless Hannah Seymour-Shove. It was left to City’s player of the match Lola Boulter to make it ten with a superb strike with the outside of her right foot.

City scorers:
Nuala Wayne 5
Issy Davison 2
Lola Boulter 2
Lauren Rouse 1
