Cambridge City U14 Girls maintained their record of not losing a competitive league or cup game since they started out as U11’s in September 2005.

They finished this year with a 100% record winning all nine games, scoring 41 and conceding only 7.

City Girls U14 Weetabix League

Sunday 5th October 2008 Away v Corby
City U14 girls came out winners against a determined and well organized Corby side, but only just. With 10 mins remaining, a positive run and cross from girl of the match, Issy Davison, fell to Captain Nuala Wayne, and she calmly slotted home from 12 yards out. This goal proved to be decisive, but it could have been a different story had it not been for a fantastic save from stand in keeper, Anna Goggins, who dived full length to tip a long range effort round the post, just before City scored the winner. City have now played and won four games and sit top of the Weetabix League. Final score City 1 Corby 0

Sunday 23rd November 2008 Home v Bedford
On a freezing cold morning, City U14 girls entertained Bedford Girls. Games between these two teams have always been close and today's game was no exception. In the first minute City could have taken the lead, when Issy Davison burst through the Bedford defence only to hit her shot just over the bar. The game was very scrappy due to a swirling wind and Bedford took full advantage, when a cross from the bedford winger went high into the City net. It was Davison who responded for city with a well taken equaliser making scores level at half time. In the second half City seemed to have more possession but Bedford still looked dangerous on the break. However City seemed to have won the game when Emma Lane put City 2-1 up when she tapped in from close range. But Bedford didn't give up and came back to make the scores level with 5 mins left. City were not finished and after a series of corners, Nuala Wayne crossed from the left and Lola Boulter popped up to head home for the winner. Final score City 3 Bedford 2.

Saturday 29th November 2008 Home v Kettering Town in Cup
City U14 girls entertained Kettering Town in the first round of the Weetabix Girls league Cup. City started brightly with Issy Davison breaking free early on, only to see her shot saved by the Kettering keeper. This pressure paid off when Emma Bardwell managed to get on the end of a through ball to turn and hit a great shot in the bottom corner. Davison then added a second with a good finish. Kettering were not out of it and went close to scoring and possibly equalising but for the performance of Rebecca Bull in goal for City who pulled off a number of fine saves. Nuala Wayne, the city captain, then took the game by the scruff of the neck and rattled off two fine finishes to kill the game off. City march into the second round but Kettering can hold their heads high as they came away from the game with a lot of credit.

Sunday 7th December 2008 Away v Billing United
City travelled to Northampton to take on Billing Utd girls. City stated slowly after the long journey and playing up the slope, found them selves under early pressure. Nuala Wayne, the City skipper had to take on the goalkeeper duties, and she was in good form keeping out a number of Billing attacks. However, she was unable to stop Billing taking the lead when a good cross was fired home. City finally woke up and Hannah-Seymour-Shove, turned smartly in the area and fired into the top corner to draw City level by half time. With the slope now with them City were quick out of the traps and after some good midfield play, Seymour-Shove broke through and scored a good goal to put City 2-1 up. Billing were not out of it and City had to defend bravely. Jade Powell had taken over in goal and with minutes left dived to her left to palm a fine Billing effort round the post. In the final minutes, Nuala Wayne curled a left foot shot into the top corner and City finished the game as 3-1 winners. The scored flattered City a little as Billing certainly put in a good display.

Sunday 14th December 2008 Home v Peterborough United
City entertained Peterborough United and as usual, this was a highly contested affair between the top two sides in the Weetabix Girls Division one. The difficult conditions did not make this a game for the purists but both sides were fully committed and intent on winning. Issy Davison was causing problems to the Peterborough defenders and it was she who deservedly opened the scoring from a corner from Stacy Carter. This spurred Peterborough into action and they had a couple of good chances, the closet, fizzing over the bar. Just before half time, City increased their lead when a cross from Stacy Carter was diverted into the Peterborough net, with the linesman flagging that the ball had crossed the line. The second half continued end to end with the 2 quick Peterborough forwards troubling the City full backs and keeper Rebecca bull. However, Rebecca in the City goal was in fine form all game and kept City ahead. The game was put to bed when Hannah Plumb turned and fired into the bottom corner and Issy Davison rounded off the scoring with a smart finish under the keeper. Final score City 4 Peterborough 0.
